Bryan D. Herrington - email

Senior Pastor

Bryan Herrington has been the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church since August of 1994. Bryan and his wife Judy were married on December 30, 1975. They have three grown children and seven grandchildren. Pastor Bryan enjoys playing golf.

Pastor Bryan graduated from Trinity College in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts. He also graduated from Luther Rice Seminary in 1984 with a Bachelor of Biblical Studies. He has been in the active pastoral ministry since 1975.

Pastor Herrington’s radio broadcast Living Hope is heard on the Web on www.WPSL.com and can be heard on 1590AM each Sunday at 10:00 am.

Chuck Burke - email

Pastor of Education/Administration

Chuck Burke joined the staff at First Baptist in January of 1992. Pastor Chuck is directly responsible for the day-to-day operation and the Education Ministries at First Baptist. In addition to these, he oversees and is responsible for Adult LIFE Groups, weekday Bible studies, and Small Groups.

Pastor Chuck graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic College in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts. He also graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985 with a Master of Arts in Religious Education.

Chuck and JoAnn were married on August 31, 1985 and they have 2 children, Lindsey and Matthew.  Chuck enjoys playing golf, working in the yard and family vacations in Western North Carolina.

Sam Fowler - email

Pastor to Children & Families

Sam Fowler joined the staff at First Baptist in March of 2007. Pastor Sam is responsible for children through the 5th grade.  He also has a desire to minister to the their families as well.

Pastor Sam graduated from the University of Tennessee of Knoxville in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies. He also graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity with Christian Education in 2006.

Sam and Heather are both from the Knoxville Tennessee area. Sam has a wide range of hobbies from reading to enjoying the outdoors.

Shawn Gross - email

Pastor of Music and Worship

Born in Rome, Georgia in 1963, Shawn attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN studying music business, copyright law and vocal performance in commercial music. Before surrendering to full time ministry, he worked corporately for the headquarters of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company executive offices.

Prior to coming to First Baptist Port St. Lucie, Shawn served at Fellowship Baptist Church in Rome, GA and Boca Raton Community Church in Boca Raton, FL. He has been the Minister of Music and Worship at FBC since January 2008. He and Senior Pastor Bryan Herrington utilize a team approach designed to develop a strong church of dynamic, committed Christians. As Pastor Bryan models God’s Word through preaching and pastoring, Shawn challenges the people of FBC to experience the presence of God through praise and worship, both corporately and privately.

In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Shawn has worked as a studio musician and background vocalist on many projects both in and out of college. He has also led the world class musicians of the New World Orchestra from Miami in numerous public and church wide events.

Shawn has been married to Cindy Stoker Gross since December 1997. They have two young boys, Eric “Channing” and “Caleb” Maxwell. Cindy holds a master’s degree in guidance and counseling and a specialist degree in Exceptional Student Education with an emphasis in autism. She spends most of her time diagnosing Shawn.
